The Future Retail Ltd, Joint Managing Director Rakesh Biyani remarked to PTI Mumbai that, they will be introducing omnichannel to e-zone by the end of this month. He said that the omnichannel platform will let the customers buy electronic goods like cell phones, television sets and items which people purchase for the purpose of gifting their friends and relatives during the festival period.

Omnichannel, the online platform, will be concentrating on multiple channels like mobiles, online and brick and mortar stores for selling their merchandise. The Managing Director also made a point that the company had made a tie-up with German enterprise resource planning company SAP which would facilitate the launch of this omnichannel.

He emphasized that the launch of the portal was done having an eye on the festive season, and to acknowledge the same, aggressive offers and persuading discounts will be awarded to the customers. Kunal Bahl, the founder of snap deal, stands first here, by bringing great products and greater offers for this season.

On the other hand, the co-founder of Localbanya, a year and a half old, online grocery firm, Amit Bharatiya said, they will be increasing their products from 14,000 to 20,000 in the next six months.

This news undoubtedly, makes us wait for the festivals to come all the more. What else can be more exhilarating than shopping around, in the comfort of our own home and yet buying all that we want! I guess, simply browsing through this omnichannel platform would give us the joy of window shopping, let alone buying anything at all!

IET 2nd engineering Job Fair announced

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is a U.K. based professional organization that is aiming towards working to engineer a new world. IET has announced its second IET Advantage Job Fairs that will be hosted for final year or freshly graduated graduate with an experience of one to six years of experience in working in the field, in October.

SRM University, Chennai is the venue for two day event open to Advanced IET member held on October 10-11, 2014. Nation-wide, final year students and fresh graduates 2014 are eligible to apply. An extensive filtration process includes a shortlist process, a technical evaluation and an aptitude test.

Azra Fathima, Head of Marketing & Communication department of IET India was quoted saying, “This landmark initiative, and perhaps the first one of its kind to be hosted by a professional engineering body aims to encourage core engineering jobs along with the more popular IT and CSE jobs. It is also our endeavor to address the knowledge-skill gap by ensuring that pre-screened candidates meet with employers, after going through a filtering process.”

This event is open for Advantage IET members. IET doesn’t collect any fees from students or candidate at any stage. In various colleges across India, IET will conduct a typical engineering Aptitude Test (AMCAT). The short-listed students are further assessed based upon their knowledge and technical skills of their chosen field of engineering through a Technical Talent Test. The main motive behind such intensive filtration process is to make sure that highly candidates meet the employers at the IET Advantage Job Fair.

The process is totally free of cost, including the aptitude and technical evaluation test. Eligible and interested students or candidates can apply for the Job Fair Here. The last date for applying for Job Fair is September 20, 2014. The aptitude test will be conducted on September 26 and 27, 2014.

UC Browser LGBT Awareness Survey Report released

LGBT community or GLBT community commonly refers to gay community. Supreme court of India has recently made it mandatory to include this community as 3rdtype of gender. UC browser is an internet browser for developed for the mobile phones by UCweb. It was first used in china and later was adopted by India. UC browser has conducted survey on LGBT for creating awareness about this community.

The aim of the survey is to get a comparable which will help for the understanding of how gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people are living in the society.

According to section 377 of Indian penal code in 1860 the intercourse of homosexuals is considered to be offensive and would lead life imprisonment. In 2013 Supreme court of India has overturned the decision lower court against the objection of section 377.

UC browser has conducted a survey on creating awareness on LGBT across the India. This survey was available for the Indian residents of the age 18 and above. A total of 6237 respondents participated in this survey, including 4991 male, 1222 female and 24 respondents who did not disclose their gender. While only 32.9% respondents are aware of Section 377 of Indian Penal Code which criminalizes sexual activities “against the order of nature”, a slightly higher 41.8% of respondents know what LGBT stands for.

The survey asked a range of questions about LGBT people’s experiences including:

  • public perceptions and responses tohomophobia and/or transphobia;
  • discrimination;
  • rights awareness;
  • safe environment;
  • violence and harassment;
  • the social context of being an LGBT person;
  • personal characteristics, including age and income group.

The major problem is that there is no enough knowledge among the citizens of India. Half of the people who attempted the survey has no idea of the term LGBT. The problem comes right from the schooling as they are not providing the adequate knowledge about the LGBT and their rights. In this web survey, the respondents are self-selected as they volunteered to participate in the survey.

This may exclude respondents who are less motivated to take part, introduce a potential for bias in the results if the sample is far from being representative of the surveyed populations a whole. The people who have given the answers might have given correctly because they volunteered themselves. This is the advantage of the web survey.

As we have seen that the total respondents to the survey was approximately 6237, this is a very less number compared to the population present in India. The above statement suggests that the people are unaware of the situation. The upcoming generation is more positive and vibrant toward the new and modern society. The ideology of the present generation must change for the betterment of the society.

The people must be known about this kind of surveys by proper marketing or advertising. The citizens of India below the age 18 should be provided with the basic knowledge of LGBT and the people above the age 18 must develop themselves to the modern society about accepting the LGBT and come into their conscience. There are many survey being conducted on this topic and the people must give their views about this situation and be the change to the world.
