Any programmer can write a code that a computer can understand, but the one from NIIT writes a code which the humans can understand. Probably, that is why, NIIT has been chosen by the tech-giant MICROSOFT, for its next initiative ‘Women in Tech’ in India.

This initiative aims in training and mentoring women to suit the IT profession in a better way. NIIT, being a leading firm in terms of imparting technical education, will aim in utilizing its widespread facilities across the nation to render the best education which will aid the girls and the women to become masters in various IT technologies.
The MICROSOFT India chairman, Mr. Bhaskar Pramanik, said that the program was being launched with the aim of doubling the number of women professionals in the IT sector. The girls and young women who hail from various educational backgrounds like from the colleges of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, collectively known as STEM, will be the chief targets.
The list also extends to the women already in the IT sector and women entrepreneurs. The student community of our country has been drawn into the technical realm with lots of encouragement by this MICROSOFT-NIIT duo. As an extension of this, NIIT will be the standing pillar for this initiative, creating awareness to the women folk through an extensive outreach program. NIIT, having rightly understood the nuances of career guidance, starts it’s preaching for young girl students aged 13-16, across 4000 schools nationwide.
On the other hand, the ‘Digital India’, program reaches out to college students, encouraging them to participate in the campus connect program. For the next 12 months, Microsoft would be working on training one million women students, IT professionals and entrepreneurs.
While discussing about this initiative, Mr. Bhaskar opined that the partnership with NIIT will help them in building a strong workforce in India with the women folk being the upper hand. As NIIT has always done, it will be providing the students consultation sessions and rigorous test preparation modules to validate their own skills, thus enabling them to become a globally certified professional.
The students will have the liberty to decide on which field they will be enhancing their skill sets on, among the given new 8 ‘Technology Skill Enhancer’ courses like that of cloud computing and mobile app development and virtualization. They have also gone an extra mile in giving Post graduate programs additionally in the fields of cloud computing & IT management, and a certified program in App development.
Having known the technical expertise of Microsoft and NIIT’s fabulous curricula, there wouldn’t be anyone who would deny that this partnership is going to transform a million women into great entrepreneurs. The IT field as it is has within it a lot of glam. With more women being inducted in, it’s going to be nothing less than a cherry on a delicious cake! Don’t you think?
