Element14 Arduiono UNO accessories for Atmel Xlained Board launched

Atmel ARM-based processors are microcontrollers and microprocessors integrated circuits, by Atmel, that are based on various 32-bit ARM processor cores, with Atmel-designed peripherals and tool support. The SMART brand includes application-specific ARM-based parts for Wi-Fi, such as the SmartConnect and Smart Direct lines, as well as ARM-based ICs meant for smart energy products such as gas and power meters.

The Atmel SMART brand of ARM-based MCUs are found in the Arduino Zero (SAM D21) single-board computer and the Arduino Due (SAM3). The “SAM” moniker in Atmel part numbers stands for “SMART Atmel microcontroller”.

Element14 has announced the launch of the Arduino UNO Click Shield and a host of Click Boards and accessories for the Atmel SAMA5D3 Xplained, a low-cost, rapid prototyping and evaluation platform featuring the ARM Cortex A5 based SAMA5D36 microprocessor.

These accessories are ideally suited for quick and easy implementation on development kits and feature low power operation and a small footprint. Click Boards are function-specific add-on modules with a common interface – four of which are launched today; the ADC, Bluetooth, SHT11 Environmental Sensor and Thermocouple Click Boards.

With no hardware configuration required, these boards will revolutionize the way new functionalities can be added to development boards. Additional add-on boards include the WIFI Dongle which connects via USB and an LCD8000 display and interface board which offers an 18-bit touchscreen at 480×272 resolution.

The μC/Probe from Micrium is also available for use with the SAMA5D3. μC/Probe is an easy-to-use Windows application designed to read and write the memory of any embedded target processor during run-time and maps memory data to virtual graphic controls on the host computer and is available in Basic and Pro editions.
