A good news for the cyclists. Google Maps have introduced new features for the bike routes as elevation profiles. Google keeps innovating and they know the importance of the bikers(cyclists). They are thinking as per their perspective. The maps will highlight the bike routes which have any obstacle like a dike. The Maps is smart to tell the user to take an alternative route.
Google Maps now adds Elevation Profile
The Maps also shows that which route will make you huff your way to your destination. The user had to use third party to use such a feature. Now Google is cutting the third party and makes this feature available in their maps itself. So the elevation data will be given the user. The feature has not been announced publicly by Google.
But we did noticed this feature and Google now a days have started introducing features secretly. The elevation profiles right now are available in 14 countries. They also offer biking directions. The list of the 14 countries:
- Austria
- Australia
- Belgium
- Canada
- Denmark
- Germany
- Great Britain
- Finland
- Netherlands
- New Zealand
- Norway
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Unites States of America
The user can choose the biking directions and get the elevation profile. A graphical representation of the hills can be clearly seen on the Maps. The user will get to know if he has to climb(with number of feet) or enjoy the slope. For flat routes elevation profiles will not be displayed to the user.
