Asus ZenFone Max First Impressions

Today Asus has launched a new handset named as Asus ZenFone Max. This device as the name suggests that there is something “MAX”. So let us find that out, what is max in this device and our opinion about the phone in first glance. Yes we got an opportunity to use the phone right when the phone got launched. It is kind of the company to send us the device before the launch.

We opened the Max box with a code and found the Asus Zenfone Max.

First Look

My first look directly went to the battery capacity of the smartphone. Yes it is a staggering 5000mAh. So that feature was surely an eye opener and will be looking forward to our results in the upcoming review soon.

Design

This phone looks similar to its predecessor. This phone is having a similar look that of the Asus Zenfone series phones have. Wait! There are some changes for sure! We liked the back panel of the device which provides more grip to the user. Power and volume keys to the right. Though we remember the Zenfone Laser lock button which is placed top of the phone.

Overall the phone looks neat and there is a good screen to body ratio.

Display

Yes it is having a 5.5 inch IPS display but with 1280 x 720 pixels of screen resolution. Though expectations from the user are certainly increased and we will do all the wide angle tests in our review for sure.

Hardware

The phone is using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC processor. The good news is that this phone is having a massive 32GB of in built storage. There are expandable memory option too. There is 2GB of RAM for the Rs.9,999 phone and the price shoots up to Rs.12,999 for the 3GB RAM variant.

Software

This phone uses the latest operating system which is Android Marshmallow. So it will be cool to use the latest Android OS on this device. There is a use of ZenUI on this device.

Camera

Good news for camera enthusiasts. This phone is using the same camera of that of Asus Zenfone 2 Laser. So a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and laser AF. There is a 5MP of front camera too. We will take a lot of camera samples soon in our upcoming review.

Battery

This is the highlight of the phone. So our expectations of the battery usage have certainly increased as this device is having a massive 5000mAh battery capacity.

Final Thoughts

A smartphone with a great battery capacity, decent looks, nice camera, latest OS, good internal storage and decent hardware comes at a price of just Rs.9,999.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 and J7 2016 launched

Samsung has launched 2 new handsets. These are the 2016 version of Samsung Galaxy J5 and Samsung Galaxy J7. They are both priced at Rs.13,990 and Rs.15,990.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 Features

This smartphone has a 5.2 inch display with Super AMOLED screen. The screen resolution of the display is 1280 x 720 pixels. This phone has an Android 5.1 with 2G of RAM and it has a 16GB of internal memory. There is also a microSD card support of upto 128GB in the phone. It is equipped with a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quadcore processor with Adreno 306 GPU.

The phone has a weight of 159g and the battery capacity of the phone is 3100mAh. There is a 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and there is a 5MP front camera with LED flash.

Other features are 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi. The Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 is priced at Rs.13,990.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 Features

The Samsung Galaxy J7 has a 5.5 inch display with super AMOLED screen with 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla glass 4 protection. The screen resolution of the device is 1280 x 720 pixels.

The device runs on Android 6 Marshmallow. It is having 2GB of RAM, 16GB in built memory and microSD card support of upto 128GB. The phone has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera with flash support. This phone is equipped with a 1.6GHz Samsung Exynos 7870 Octa Core Processor.

The phone has a battery capacity of 3300 mAh. The thickness of the phone is 7.8mm and the weight of the device is 170g. The other features of this phone are 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, NFC, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.1. This phone is priced at Rs.15,990. There is another Bike mode which is interesting to use.

Great Indian Developer Summit 2016 Pune Experience

There are many software developers who create beautiful applications and software for their companies. Well there was a platform where in some of the world class software developers and industry experts came in Pune and showcased their knowledge and wisdom to the IT Professionals in the city. This event took place at Hyatt Regency on 30th April 2016. We got an opportunity to have a glimpse of this conference in the city.

Well the stage was set and it was time for all the software developers in the city to get a lot of knowledge and insights into the new trends and great learnings by some of the industry experts and pioneers of various technologies related to Software Development. Software Developers love coding and it is their life.

Some have interests in a particular field and some have passion for a particular niche in programming. So very enthusiastic software developers from the Pune city came in, to get more knowledge from the experts at the GIDS 2016(Great Indian Developer Summit).

The event started with a welcome note. It was then followed by a very interesting and exciting session of Scott Davis explaining the importance of storytelling. I liked this session a lot. It was then followed by a session by Douglas Crockford who explained the concepts of Javascript with interpretation of star wars. That was very exciting moment for the crowd.

Later Rajdeep Dua of Salesforce talked about tech careers and learning in 21st century. It was then followed by a session with Aditee Rele of Microsoft talking about the journey to the intelligent cloud.

It was a house full event and the audience was keen and interested to know about the latest technology in development and also new insights from the industry experts. A lot of learning for the developers indeed. The above were common sessions and then it was time to split the space into 5 different classrooms kind of arrangement. There were 5 sessions running in parallel at the same time.

So it was upto the participant to decide which session to attend. I liked the sessions by Scott Davis as he was teaching amazing concepts in a very unique way. Many other speakers were enlightening the audience with a variety of topics related to software development. I have attended various conferences, but I was impressed to see the loyalty of the attendees to attend all the sessions with utmost interest.

The event had stalls of Salesforce, Hazelcast, GrapeCity,etc. People were excited to know about these companies and their services too. Also there were a lot of goodies given to the participants by these companies. Some lucky draw winners won big. They won Apple iPad Mini and also a drone. So all the professionals were happy to get as much knowledge as they can in this amazing summit.

I liked the focus of the conference more on the sessions aspect as there are many individuals who are keen to learn more from the speakers. Also the audience seemed to be very focused indeed. The speakers were industry experts and came to the event right from countries like USA, Netherlands, etc. So the audience got knowledge from the global set of speakers indeed.

Finally the GIDS.MINI ended with 20 sessions from topics like the dynamic languages, functional programming, latest in Java and also from the web development perspective. Also there were interesting other topics as well. The conference completed with a lot of knowledge for the software development professionals.

How many have you used wireless earphones? I know that many few people in life have used them. So are you ready to give a try to wireless earphones? We have used the latest wireless earphones from the company Brainwavz. We have used these for a very long time. So get to know about our opinion about this device in detail.

Brainwavz BLU-200 Review

Design

The first thing when you look at these earphones is, that these are small and lightweight. Also you will think, where is the rest part of this device. Is this it? That was our reaction when we saw this earphone. In every earphone what we look for is the strength of the wire that connects the Left and Right of the ear buds. The wire seem to be strong.

The look wise the device seem to be cool. It does look something interesting than the rest for sure. The device has a very strong setup of ear buds when you touch it. There are three switches in this device. These are Volume low/Play Previous song button, Pause/Play/ON/OFF button, Volume High/Play Next song button. The device has a microphone as well which you can see at the volume control knob on the other side.

Performance

Now before connecting, we checked the comfort level of the earbuds. Though with the earphone there are 3 sets of Silicone ear tips and also a set of foam tips. The user can use according to the size. Well get accustomed to it. When you mount the earphones in your ears, you get to know that you are now going to get disconnected with the outer world. You cannot hear what people say which are next to you. So this earphone will take you to the music level for sure.

Then switch ON the earphone by long press the Play/Pause button. It gives voice messages in your ear like “POWER ON”. Then it says “CONNECTING”. Then take your smartphone or any bluetooth device which has music stored in it. We used our smartphone, we switched our smatphone`s bluetooth ON. Then pair the device to your smartphone. You can see the device name as BLU-200 when you search for it in the Bluetooth.

When it is successfully paired. It is time to start playing your favourite music. Open your Music Player and play any song. The sound quality of the earphones is superb. The Bass and Treble is what a perfect combo where there is more focus on bass which we love a lot. It can be used when you are working out. I used it most of the time when I was working out and exercising. The wireless earphones can be kept far from your source(smartphone) upto 10m as what people say, but keep it closer (atleast 5m) to have better quality.

If you go far from it the sound quality decreases, so make sure you are nearby your smartphone. Apart from playing amazing music. I used it for calling. You can talk to your closed ones or with your clients using the earphones. The microphone seemed to be powerful. Because I was jogging and talking with my colleague and still he was able to listen to me clearly. This is indeed a plus point. So there is a microphone which is like a companion for you.

The device is capable of answering calls, making a call to the previous number dialed and can also receive a call which is in waiting and switch between the two calls. Now every user will have this question. How can you know when to charge the device? Well while listening to songs, and when you have mounted the earphone and the battery is low, then it will give you a warning : “Battery Low”. So at that time you have to open the cover of the rightside ear bud where you will see the hidden micro USB compartment.

Then connect it with the microUSB cable to your computer or any other device. The device starts charging where you will see a small white LED notification light turned ON. When the charging is complete the light goes OFF.

Final Verdict

It was fun testing this wireless earphone. We were not at all surprised with the sound quality as the user starts expecting when he/she looks at the device. Hands free talking with anyone is a bonus and these earphones are a must buy for people to save time. Sound quality is good and also you can charge the earphones using microUSB which is nice. Go for it, yo will love them for sure!

Mahindra Blazo Smart Truck Experience – A day at Chakan

Transport is one of the pillars of our nation`s growth. There are a lot of things relied on the transport for sure. The integral part of road transport are the trucks. We can see many trucks on the road carrying various items from one place to another. Has anyone taken a step to make these trucks more efficient and smarter? Well in India, Mahindra Smart Trucks & Buses division has taken a step and launched India`s first smart truck. Yes its Mahindra Blazo series.

In the era of technology you might have heard about smart phones or even smart watches, but do you know about the latest smart truck in India? Well get acquainted with Mahindra Blaze the future of smart truck is here in India. Who will get benefited? Well thousands of transport owners can have the luxury of Mahindra Blazo for a efficient, secure and smart travel of their trucks.

We were lucky to be invited at Mahindra`s plant in Chakan where these smart trucks are manufactured. So here is our experience about the truck and my viewpoints for the same. I was amazed to see the amount of research, dedication and hardwork the team has put in to make this truck into existence. You might have seen the recent television advertisements of Ajay Devgan talking about the 48 hours back on road service guarantee or they pay Rs.1000 per day to the truck owner. We will talk about these in detail in our experience.

The MTBD (Mahindra Truck & Bus Division) is a part of Mahindra Group. They have named their new heavy commercial truck series as BLAZO. This series include tractor trailer, haulage and tipper. It is equipped with a fuelsmart technology.

Fuelsmart Technology

There is a use of Fuelsmart technology in the Blazo series. There is a CRDe engine coupled with Multi drive mode feature mainly seen in the passenger cars. There are three modes which can be switched by the driver. These are:

Turbo Mode – Used for carrying full load and while driving on steep incline
Heavy Mode – Useful for carrying full load without any steep incline
Light Mode – Used when the load is empty or half full

Certainly using the Fuelsmart technology will save a lot of fuel by the truck drivers and truck owners for sure. Saving even a small percentage of fuel is a big boon for the transport companies. With this technology Mahindra in its Blaze, Technology has made a very important multimode feature to do the same.

Design

We got an opportunity to sit in the cabins of the Mahindra Blazo trucks. All these cabins are very spacious and comfortable. We had an opportunity to sit in a cabin where there is a sleeper coach like a railway but more better. This sleeper seat is important in a long journey, if there are two drivers they can swap & sleep one after the other and the truck keeps on route. There are also seats for the subordinates.

Mahindra has made a lot of efforts for the comfort of the truck driver. When you are seated on the seat of the driver you never feel that you are sitting inside a truck. It felt like a SUV driving seat kind of experience. There is a fan just above the head of the driver to keep the cool which is just amazing.

There are Air Conditioner installation slots. So there is an option to make the compartments Air conditioned too by the owner. This is great as long journeys and mainly in summers are a bit too energy drain without an AC. So there is an option for installing AC in the cabin. There are a lot of switches in the compartment. These switches give the complete control of the truck to the driver for sure.

While going on the test drive, we were 5 passengers and a driver. Still we were comfortably seated in the truck`s cabin. This is a great luxury for the passengers and the travelers for sure which will make the journey less hectic indeed.

Performance

While taking a ride of the truck and enjoying the ride as a passenger gave us a very in depth knowledge about the truck. Certainly this truck seemed to be very very powerful and during the turns the driver was able to take swift turns with precision. We did felt safe during our entire ride. There are a lot of safety precautions made by the manufacturer.

We had seen the manufacturing process of the Mahindra Blazo Truck and we were amazed to see the built in process with the use of Robotic Engineering. So there are huge automated robots who are building the Mahindra Blazo Trucks with precision. These huge Robots were doing their work very fast and must be doing it with accuracy.

Back On Road Service Guarantee

When we discussed about the Back On Road Service guarantee with the CEO of MTBD, he was confident about the same. Also we had a meeting with the VP of MTBD division who was confident of the trucks that they are willing to pay Rs.1000 per day after the 48 hours of back on road service. This is a very important move as it creates trust among the truck fleet owners.

This a very optimistic and ambitious promise by the manufacturers for sure. In case of any problem for the driver they can call the 24×7 support for the MTBD section which is available in 7 regional languages. There will be 2900 Roadside Assistance service points all over India in the due course of time.

Summing it Up

We were thrilled to have an amazing experience with the Mahindra Blazo truck series. There were many times we were shocked to see the innovations in the trucks. This smart truck firstly launched in India will surely be a great pleasure for all the Truck and road transport owners as their work will be more efficient indeed. It is time to be smart and we believe that soon you will see many smart trucks on the Indian Roads.
