NetApp provides a Hybrid Cloud Foundation

When these patented and patent pending offerings are blended together, these allow customers to embrace the hybrid cloud while keeping control over their data and assuring choice across a combination of private and public cloud resources.

As the hybrid cloud carries on gaining traction within the enterprise, NetApp concludes that the data management elements in various parts of a hybrid cloud must be linked and should work together to form understandable, joined, and interoperable system. This “data fabric” helps data to be constantly handled, transported seamlessly from a part of the cloud to another. It also aids enterprises to exercise regular policies and services to the data in the hybrid cloud disregarding of the technology, application or cloud infrastructure provider.

Today, NetApp has declared crucial technology components so that the NetApp Data Fabric vision can be brought to life, including:

  •     Clustered Data ONTAP 8.3 – A Proven Foundation for Cloud Data Management

Improvements to the company’s software-defined storage operating system, clustered Data ONTAP, has  aided organizations of all sizes better their levels of availability, conduct and capability. New support for NetApp® MetroCluster™ Disaster Recovery Software has aided enterprises with unbroken recovery from failures that occurred across data centers.

In the occurrence of mishappening or planned outages critical business applications can continue to work. The newest version of the software includes efficiency optimizations for all-flash nodes so that customers can increase the level of performance without having to give up valuable data management, protection, or adjustable data movement.

The new software includes better efficiency that fairly improves the cost per gigabyte and cost per IOPS of assembled Data ONTAP that provides a better return on investment for organizations.

  • Cloud ONTAP – Enterprise-Class Data Management for the Public Cloud

Cloud ONTAP brings the strength of assembled Data ONTAP to the public cloud. NetApp Data ONTAP is the world’s top ranked branded storage operating system.[i] The first release of Cloud ONTAP blends the strength of assembled Data ONTAP with the scale of Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The software, which is constructed on clustered Data ONTAP 8.3, makes use of patented NetApp technologies for non-disruptive operations, seamless scalability, and performance and blends them with the on-demand computing perks of cloud services.

This approach provides a constant set of data services throughout a hybrid cloud environment. AWS is the first platform provider to operate Cloud ONTAP services on its cloud environment and NetApp is joining hands with Microsoft Azure and Verizon Cloud for releases in the future. To help customers take advantage of Cloud ONTAP, NetApp is bidding number of cloud-friendly and conventional data center service licensing options.

  •     OnCommand Cloud Manager – Efficient and Easy Provisioning for the Cloud

OnCommand Cloud Manager helps effective and simple arranging of clustered Data ONTAP instances between private cloud and public cloud providers. An easy and instinctive graphical user interface gives customers and partners seamless visibility into their hybrid cloud environment and removes the complications of storage setup and movement of data from one place to another.

  •     NetApp Private Storage for Cloud – Extending Cloud Storage Choices While Aiding Customers to Maintain Control of Data

NetApp also brought in NetApp Private Storage (NPS) for SoftLayer and declared the new NetApp Private Storage for Cloud family. NPS for Cloud aids customers to use a number of clouds and keep control over their data on a single NetApp data storage device strategically placed in selected distribution facilities.
