element14 has tied up with Molex to expand its connector range. The company now will also include the high current density Mega-Fit Power Connectors of Molex which offers a high current density of 23.0 Amps per circuit on a 5.7-millimeter pitch and row spacing. Molex is considered as the world leader in interconnect solutions in many fields such as telecommunications, industrial, automotive, aerospace and defense, consumer electronics, and lighting.
element14 Mega-fit power connectors
The secret of generating such powerful connectors lies behind the combination of compact form factor and high intensity terminals. The split-box design of the terminal has six independent contact points for long term performance and redundant current paths. The design has been reported as very reliable by the company’s clients. The connectors are regarded as ideal applications that require an output of 14.0 in 23.0A per terminal.
Also, the extended barrel conductor crimp provides strong terminal-to-wire retention. It also has a fully isolated header pins and receptacle terminals for protection against potential damage during handling. The good housing locking system ensures secure retention.
These connectors are used widely in telecommunications and networks, home appliances, vehicles and devices. This is one of the largest investments ever made by element14. The company is also believed to expand its current portfolio of connectors.

The wearable sensor technology company, BeBop Sensors, which was initiated by musical instrument inventor Keith McMillen and KMI. They declared first product, the BeBop Wearable Smart Fabric Sensor. It is an ultra thin wearable smart fabric sensor which measures all aspects of motion, bend, torque, location, rotation, and angle.
BeBop Wearable Sensor & Controller with Smartphone
Wearable Smart Fabric Technology
This use makes use of BeBop’spatented proprietary Monolithic Fabric Sensor technology, BeBop fabric sensors constantly supply real-time reporting on force, x/y location, bend, twist, size, stretch and motion for markets, that includes clothing and protective wear, shoes, recycling monitors, healthcare devices, automotive, robotics, aerospace, gaming, athletic equipment, prosthetics, biometrics and appliance markets.
Smart Fabric Sensor Solutions Provide 3D Maps of Data
This product is not like other wearable sensors that are on the market these days that only calculate physiology (EKG, EMG), electrical conductivity or breathing, BeBop measures the true physicality to sense and show 3D maps of data. More than a million sensors already in daily use. So through the KMI’s musical instrument products, the sensors are, tested, fundamental and extensible.
BeBop’s Monolithic Fabric Sensors have put together sensors, traces, and electronics into one single piece of fabricto provide better responsiveness, resolution, range of deployment and durability and all of this with a very small size.
BeBop Sensor Arm Controller
They have done developing of smart fabric sensors for six years. It has been done in expressive musical instruments. These instruments include QuNeo keyboards and QuNexus. BeBop sensor technology was devised and this product has been produced for the fast-growing wearable technology market. BeBop was approached by multiple companies that requested KMI’s fabric sensor technology, after which, KMI launched spin-off company BeBop Sensors to meet the demand.
BeBop’s available solutions for wearable technology:
Wearable Controllers: These controllers are for sleeves of jackets or shirts and can be connected to smart phones to take calls, higher or lower volume or select songs, all of this while the phone is in your pocket.
1mm Thin Shoe Insoles: They calculate gait, pressure, fit, contact style and flexure of toes and feet.
Planar, spherical or cylindrical geometries: All these geometrics are used as head sensors, pressure maps or handles of athletic equipment.
Smart Yoga and Gym Mats: These are used to show hand and foot pressure for teaching purposes.
Grip Sensors: This helps in taking a note of detailed finger positions for baseball, golf, etc.
Car Seat Sensors: They sense airbag fill, volume and the weight of the passenger.
Car Steering Wheels: They sense how much the driver is alert.
Weight Lifting Gloves: They reveal the weight or even the load.
Foot Volume Sensing: They foresee Diabetic events.
Cycling Shoe Inserts: Check power meters.
BeBop Wearable Sensor Markets:
BeBop markets cover the areas of clothing and protective wear, healthcare devices, robotics, shoes, automotive, athletic equipment, security, aerospace, prosthetics, biometrics, appliances and recycling.
BeBop OEM Turnkey Offerings Now Available
Custom turnkey sensor solutions for OEMs to integrate into their products, ranging from basic sensors to complete wireless solutions with advanced power management are also being offered by BeBop. Visualization programs for any design which has an easily-altered SDK (Software Developer’s Kit) also aids manufacturers to create custom apps by choosing from a number of 2D and 3D representations and colours or by compelling the BeBop data into a whole new application.
