Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe Review – Massive internal memory

One of the latest smartphone from the Asus Zenfone series. The fact is that we had used this smartphone in the Asus Zenfestival in New Delhi but for a very short time. Now we got to use this smartphone for a whole week and were able to do a lot of analysis. As per the Deluxe smartphone, people are knowing about the massive internal memory.

But there are a lot of other features as well which may amaze the potential buyers. So we will speak about all these features. We have extensively used the device and this complete review is as per our thoughts on this smartphone after the usage. So for the potential buyers this review may help you in deciding to buy this smartphone or not. So let us start with discussing about the various aspects of this device.

Design

From front when you look at the phone you do realize that the Screen to body ratio of the phone is high. In the Front above the screen you can see the ASUS branding, above that there is an earphone. Just beside the earphone there is a front camera. Besides it there is an LED indicator. This indicator is beneficial to know when the phone starts charging. So when the phone is connected for charging you can see the Orange color LED light ON. When the phone gets full charged you can see a Yellow color at the same place.

Just below the screen there are three touch buttons. They are Back, Home and Recent apps. Using the back button you can go back. Using the Home button you can directly go to the homescreen while using anything. When you hit the Recent Apps button you can get to see all the apps which are running and you can switch between the apps or kill the app as per your need.

On top of the phone you can see a 3.5 mm jack which can be used to plugin your headphones. There is also a Lock/Power Button on the top. Unlike the Zenfone 5 the Power button is on top. In Zenfone 5 the Power/lock buton is on the right hand side. In this phone there are no physical buttons on the Right or left side of the handset.

Talking about the most interesting side of the phone. Yes it is the back side of the handset. The design on the back makes this phone very much appealing. With the polygon design the grip of the phone increases a lot and it does look aesthetically cool. Though we got a White color handset but Purple color variant must be looking more prettier for this handset.

This unique design on the back makes the device very much stand out from the other handsets. By just looking at the design of the back panel anyone can make out that this is an Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe smartphone. In the Back you can see a powerful flash, below that a Camera. Below the camera you can see 2 volume rocker buttons.

These are to change the volume of the device, also a user can easily use it to click selfies. Below these two physical buttons you can see the ASUS branding. And at the bottom of the back panel we can see the speaker. Below the phone there is a microUSB slot for inserting the microUSB cable for data transfer as well as for charging the smartphone.

Display

The Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe smartphone is having a 5.5 inch display. The display is with screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. This accounts to 400.53 PPI. This is a very good Pixels per inch number. The display does seem to be huge and the clarity of the display is also good.

The display can be viewed with ease in different viewing angles without any problem. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology is used in this IPS display. So there is the so called super Anti-Scratch coating on the display. Touch on the display works flawlessly. Even using gloves you can use the display.

Software

The phone is having Android Lollipop 5.0. Though you will be experiencing a different UI altogether. Yes I am talking about the ZenUI. So the company has included the ZenUI in this smartphone as they always do in all the Zenfone series smartphones.

Camera

This device is having a 5 MP front camera. There is a 13 MP rear camera with Flash. Now this is a camera with the PixelMaster technology. The rear camera is supported with a dual tone LED flash. The camera has a f/2.0 aperture. There is a use of 5 elements lens which is manufactured by Largan precision. The front camera has a wide angle of 85 degree.

The Camera has a lot of modes. These include Auto, Manual, HDR, Beautification, Super Resolution, Low Light, Night, Depth of Field, Effect, Selfie, GIF Animation, Panorama, Miniature, Time Rewind, PanoSphere, Smart Remove, All Smiles and Time Lapse.

So a bunch of modes helps the user to enhance the photo while capturing. We clicked few camera samples. Overall observation: a good camera with good clarity of the pictures.

Performance

The phone is having a 2.3 GHz 64 bit Quad core processor. This phone is using an Intel Atom Z3580 processor. The phone has a massive 4 GB RAM. This helps in flawless multi-tasking. I was able to do the multi-tasking with ease between applications with no lag at all.

The phone has a massive 64 GB in built memory. Though there is another variant having 128 GB of internal memory. Yes it is very good spacious internal memory. So all the problems of people, of “Low internal storage” is now solved by this handset. Its so massive that you can download hundreds of apps in this smartphone with ease. Also if you need more space then you can use a microSD card of upto 128GB. So there is a lot of space in the smartphone to install apps as well as keep the data.

Multimedia

We tested this device by playing a game too. We played the Asphalt 8 and the phone did responded well. The overall experience was nice while playing the game. No lag at all. The phone`s video playback was done smoothly. The audio clarity is superb even using the loudspeaker. You can listen to the beats carefully of a song. But the speaker of the phone is not loud enough. This is not a phone with a loud audio playback.

Connectivity

The phone has a lot of connectivity options. These include 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi supporting 433 Mbps, GPS, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0. So most of the connectivity features are there in this smartphone.

Battery

This phone has a battery capacity of 3000mAh. They are using a Li-Po battery which gives decent performance. The phone`s battery can be charged upto 60% in just 39 minutes. So fast charging capability is there in Asus Zenfone Deluxe.

Xiaomi, a Chinese manufacturer recently launched two mousepads, the Mi Metal Mouse Pad along with the rubber Mi Mouse Pad.

The Mi Metal Mouse Pad is made sleek of durable aluminum. It is apparently corrosion resistant and is merely 3mm thick and comes with an anti-slip reverse, made of silicone rubber. The face of the mouse pad is polished silver and provides suave mouse movements. The creation process for the mouse pad includes sandblasting the surface, which might lead to friction noises on movements of the mouse.

The Mi mouse pad on the other hand is made of non-slip rubber, obviously. The Mi Metal mouse pad has been meticulously tested and made into a good convenient mouse pad.
