Design
The device does look stylish in the packing of the device. The dimensions of the device is 110.9 x 37.2mm x 10.8mm. It is in a very styslish case looking similar to the finish and color as that of the Mac. There is also an LED indicator on this device. We liked the packaging of the device. The box also has Torx screwdrivers for fitting the SSD to your Mac.
Performance
The connection bandwidth for USB 3.0 is upto 5 Gb/s and for USB 2.0 is upto 480 Mb/s. The flash type of the SSD is Synchonous MLC. The SSD`s max seq reading speed as per company are 570MB/s and the Max Seq Write speed 460MB/s. But as per our test we found that the speeds actually vary due to various conditions. The free space also matters a lot. So as per our test the max seq read speed was 501 MB/s and the write speed recorded was 428 MB/s.
In box accessories
MacBook Compliant SSD, Screwdrivers(P5 and T5), enclosure case with USV 3.0 to SATA Adapter, screws for enclosure case. Rubber Feer, Travel pouch, USB cable and quick installation guide and warranty card are the accessories with the SSD.
Warranty
The device has a warranty of 5 years. Well we would like to tell our audience that the warranty is not applicable for the JetDrive Toolbox`s wear-out indicator if it shows 0 in five years.
Conclusion:
It is a very nice update for the people who are running out of space for their Macbook Pro Retina. Though these updates do come with a heavy price points. But for extreme usage of space this is a good option.
