Oppo Lists its First Smartphone under ‘Realme 1’ Exclusively on Amazon

Chinese Smartphone brand Oppo is going to launch its Indian sub-brand Realme through the online shopping portal of Amazon India. The exclusive deal between Oppo and Amazon to introduce the first Smartphone model of this brand, named as Realme1, can be observed as a challenge to the successful Flipkart-Xiaomi partnership.

Amazon India has kept the details about this launch regarding price, specifications and availability as a mystery by only promoting on the website as “Revealing on May 15”. It can be expected to be available for sale on that date, although it cannot be confirmed if it is going to be a regular Amazon sale or flash sale, until the company announces officially.

Oppo Lists its First Smartphone under 'Realme 1' Exclusively on Amazon

This new brand of smartphones will focus only on the online market, particularly targeting young customers, unlike its parent brand Oppo which focused on both online and offline consumers by advertisements and promoting both digitally and offline.

According to unofficial sources, Realme1 can be expected to be a budget smartphone with end features to compete with other budget smartphones like Redmi 5A by the leading brand Xiaomi. However, its real competition will be known only after the price and specification are revealed. Although, not much can be known about the features of this new phone, Amazon’s microsite promoting Realme1 with its picture can give the buyers some idea.

The handset comes with the “Black Diamond” back design very similar to that of Oppo’s flagship models A3 released in China and F7 released in India. Apart from the diamond patterned back panel, the picture also reveals the LED flash and rear camera. The brand also promises of sturdiness as per the advertisement on its listing page. It claims that the phone has been able to withstand 10,000 drop tests, 1,00,000 button tests and 10,000 USB tests. Moreover, Oppo also offers guaranteed ‘one-hour’ of post-sales services for ‘most of the cases’ at more than 500 authorised service centres scattered across the country.

Oppo has signed the contract with Amazon India exclusively for the launch of this new brand and it is surmised to be quite similar to the latest partnership between the e-commerce major Flipkart India and Taiwanese smartphone brand Asus.
