After a year or two many of us face the problem of phone lagging. You must know how to stop android phone from lagging. There are many reasons for phone lagging. I have experienced it and I have solved the problem of Samsung Galaxy M21 which was lagging. In this article I will share you step by step process of how you can enjoy lag free smartphone.
How to stop Android phone from lagging
Close multiple apps
You can easily close all the apps which are on simultaneously. You can easily check the recent apps and close them with a single touch of a button or close them one by one. This will free up RAM in your smartphone which will help you to do things fast. I know you need to do multi tasking, but when the work is done, its always a good way to close all your ongoing apps.
Empty your Recycle Bin
Many of the people do know about the Recycle Bin present in the Gallery. So if there are any unwanted photos or videos in your Recycle Bin then remove all of them. You will enjoy that free space. Also if there is a built in File Manager or File Explorer do use it. It will help you to delete unwanted files from your smartphone. There is also a different recycle bin or Trash inside your File Manager. Do check it out and delete all the unnecessary files from it.
Delete unwanted files like videos and photos
Due to the digital era and ease of capturing photos and videos we capture a lot of photos and videos. So you can sit and sort all of them. There might be many duplicate photos like in same pose or environment and you can keep the best one. Same with the videos, you can check each and every video and delete unnecessary videos from your smartphone. This is time consuming but its worth the efforts as it will free up your phone storage. You can also transfer your photos and videos to your laptop or PC or upload them on cloud for easy access.

Remove unwanted apps
We tend to install many unwanted and unnecessary apps. There are many apps which you have not even opened once in a year or month. So there is no need of such apps. Many people have more than 100 apps in their smartphone but they hardly use 20 of them. So you have to uninstall and remove unwanted apps from your android smartphone to free up the memory and this may solve your problem of lagging the device.
Free your phone storage
This is one of the most important and crucial solution to this problem. Many of the lagging issues cause when the phone memory is almost full. You might have got warning notifications that your phone memory is full. So its time to cleanup your phone storage. At least keep 25% of your phone storage free. If its 50% then its awesome, but I know its not possible for most of us as many of the apps and data take half of your smartphone memory.
Move data to microSD card
Now if your phone has microSD card slot then its time to purchase a new microSD card. If your smartphone has expandable storage option then you can certainly buy a microSD card and then use it. There is a limit of SD card memory usage. So get the right memory card for your smartphone. You can check in your smartphone specifications where its mentioned about expandable storage. So for example there are many new smartphones which allow upto 512GB of expandable memory. So this means that you can buy maximum storage microSD card of upto 512GB and use it for your smartphone.
Clean cache memory of apps
Now you can do this manually by deleting the cache memory of each and every app. So most of the cache memory can be in Whatsapp and other social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and much more. Although there are some memory booster apps which you can install and they do the work for you. Although the free apps are cluttered with ads and also may make the phone slow. So its better to use the best app to do this task.
Remove antivirus, booster or phone lagging apps
Now to the sole purpose of an antivirus app is to remove the viruses. But for full protection they monitor your phone continuously and may make your phone slow and lagging. So you can try removing them or choose the best ones so that they don’t make your phone slow. There are some apps like memory booster apps which may make your phone slow. So you can remove them and see how the smartphone performs.
Update your phone and apps
Its time to update your phone’s operating system. You can see if there is any update available for your operating system. You can go in Settings and then go in About Phone section to check for any software updates. Make sure you keep all your apps up to date. There are chances that because of any bug in any of the app the phone can get slow. But with updates the companies do remove the bugs and this will enhance the user experience.
Do Factory Reset
One of the last thing which you can do is to factory reset your device. This means that you will have to format all the data of your smartphone. So before doing that you can backup all your important data. Its very easy to do factory reset. Just go to Settings – > Factory Reset. Sometimes there is an option in Settings -> About Phone – > Factory Reset. This will erase all your smartphone’s data and the device will be like brand new. Now this will certainly help you as 99% it will certainly solve your problem.
When to change your smartphone
Now if you have used the smartphone for more than 3 years, the above things may not work as your smartphone’s hardware gets outdated. So its time for you to buy a new smartphone and you will be enjoying a lag free smartphone for sure.
