ASUS Pan India Enthusiasts Meet 2014

This year’s Pan India Enthusiasts Meet came to an end on Saturday. The meet was held by ASUS India at their head office in Mumbai. The motive of the meet was to introduce new products of asus to the tech fanciers and receive feedback from them. Mr. Jack Cheng, R&D department, ASUS, told us that the meet was filled with open discussions and interactions with the software developers helped them to review their products better.

ASUS initiated this course in 2011 and its popularity has increased greatly since then. ASUS believes that the Indian market holds a good share of their overall profit. The meet began with an update of the latest products of ASUS that were launched during the last two months. They mostly included the graphic cards and the powerful motherboards. They aimed at making people familiar with their products and increasing their market share. Demonstration of some new products was also given during the meet.

During the discussion with Mr. Jack Cheng over Skype, the enthusiasts were told about the conceptualization of OC Socket which is the latest feature introduced by ASUS in their X99 motherboard series. The working benefits of the socket and its advantage were explained in detail by Mr. Cheng. Working on the new innovation with motherboards, tech lovers were also given a chance to work on those products and get familiar with the technology.

Wireless networking was another centre of attention. The latest introduced DSL-AC68U attracted many. The Intel Core i-7 ASUS X99-Deluxe with the G-SYNC monitor was even not behind to attract people. The event was concluded by an overclocking session by the owner of Comp Kraft Pvt.Ltd, Shatul Durlabhji who is the most popular overclocker and is also known for holding various records in overclocking.

In 2013, Salesforce.com and Oracle announced a 9-year partnership in which Salesforce.com will use Oracle Linux, Oracle Exadata, Oracle Database, and the Java platform to power salesforce.com’s applications and SaaS platform.

In a recent interview with Forbes, CEO Marc Benioff outlined three key ways salesforce.com manages to stay on top:

 The company has designed and developed its applications to be easy-to-use and intuitive solutions that can be deployed rapidly, customized easily and integrated with other software applications. The largest design community of its kind, Element14, which has more than 250,000 members, has released the announcement of its most anticipated design challenges ever-the “In the Air” challenge. This challenge is an initiative which is a global competition that encourages participating engineers to evolve pioneering pollution measurement applications and is backed by partners including Texas Instruments (TI), Cisco Systems, Würth Elektronik, Sierra Wireless , The Eclipse Foundation and Keysight Technologies.

Participants will use a core kit that features several popular products: the element14 BeagleBone Black, Würth power inductors and TI’s SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® CC3200 LaunchPad and ultra-low power MSP430FR5969 FRAM LaunchPad. The goal of this initiative is to create advanced and creative Internet-of-Things (IoT) solutions calculate the amount of pollution and deliver that information quickly to enable smart and prompt interventions.

“In the Air” aims to create IoT-base gadgets that identify the levels of pollution and enable to take prompt actions that help to increase and improve the quality of life and safety for people. The “In the Air” design challenge reveals how the IoT can figure out solutions to real-world problems like air pollution with a wireless sensor network.

The participants in the competition will be provided with element14 BeagleBone Black 4G, TI SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3200 LaunchPad, TI ultra-low power MSP-EXP430FR5969 FRAM LaunchPad, Würth Metal Alloy Power Inductor, Würth Shielded Power Inductor, Würth Low Profile High Current Power Inductors, a 6-month License, access to the Eclipse Foundation’s IoT platform, access to Sierra Wireless’ AirVantage M2M Cloud Platform.

Also, all the participants will receive an amount of Rs 30564.7 budget for additional parts and prototyping and Rs 3912.35 toward Würth Elektronik’s PCB services. Moreover all passive components, switches, LEDs and connectors that are listed on Würth’s website will be supplied free of cost. Texas Instruments has also dispensed Rs 305645.56 towards the challenge.

The recruitment period starts today and will end on 13th October, Monday .Amongst them, 10 participants will be chosen to build their designs and blog at the award-winning element14 design community al through the challenge. They will share their ideas and address the most important challenges. The competition is scheduled to end on 30th January 2015.The announcement of the winners will be made in the early February.

The winners will receive a magnificent prize that includes a 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, a TI Bluetooth low energy SensorTag and a U1273A OLED Multimeter from Keysight Technologies. The Community Choice winner, who is to be selected by a vote on the element14 community, is entitled to receive a MacBook Air and a TI SensorTag as gifts.

The IoT has applications that are beyond smart homes and health monitoring. This challenge aims to create devices that help to calculate levels of pollution and enable to take steps to ensure a better quality and safety to people. This challenge is a way to showcase how the IoT can help and solve problems like air pollution with wireless sensor networks.
