Dr Guenther was a well renowned and highly intellectual person in the field of audio. He was the one who introduced many firsts to the market. These included the world’s first in-wall speaker; in-wall subwoofer; component loudspeaker for car hi-fi.

Soundmatters has announced the passing away of its founder,NASA engineer and audio legend Dr. Godehard Guenther , on October 16th who has gone through and battled with gastric cancer. Dr. Godehard Guenther who was born on April 9, 1939 in Bochum, Germany. He earned his undergraduate degree in physics at the university of Gottingen and has a PhD in astrophysics at the University of Heidelberg.

Dr. Guenther has funded his studies for clients around Germany with freelance photography and geological survey work. Dr Guenther has got a chance to work with NASA when he got recruited by Dr. Wernher von Braun. A year later after he joined the National Academy of Sciences as a fellow in 1968 and he emigrated to the United States to work with group of scientists at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

He went there to develop an experiment that was part of America‘s first space station. He left NASA in pursuit of his growing interest in acoustics in 1972 and,he dedicated his time in the development in size and performance boundaries of existing audio equipment .

Dr. Guenther was a frontiersman in American high fidelity consumer electronics , initially was importing Braun loud speakers to US then he found Analog+Digital Systems(a/d/c) of Wilmington, MA, which has acquired Braun audio later.He led the development there by considering the use of the rare earth metals which includes samarium cobalt and neodymium in loud speakers which was the first fully digital surround system and the first in-wall loudspeaker.

Dr. Guenther founded Soundmatters in 1998 (Reno,NV) having identified the importance of multimedia early-on with a desire to shrink both the size and cost of true hi-fi audio. He introduced the first hi-fi quality all-in-one surround in 2008 under the Soundmatters brand which was the first pocket-sized Bluetooth stereo loudspeaker acclaimed for the audio enthusiasts.

Dr. Guenther was a music enthusiast, a gifted pianist, a refined oenophile, and an aficionado of Chinese and Japanese culture, cuisine, and art.He will be commemorated with his brilliance and humor. He inspired lots of people including his family with his work , innovations and passion towards the innovations.He will be missed by many people and his work ,innovations and his designs will be remained forever.

He will be remembered for his unique combination of brilliance and humor. He inspired his family, friends and colleagues with his zest for life, his wanderlust, his imagination, and his seemingly inexhaustible output of innovative, often groundbreaking audio designs.

Bose has introduced two more devices to its SoundLink® series – the Color Bluetooth® speaker and on-ear headphones.
