The latest Android OS is Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Yes you are right that there is an introduction of a new version of Android. Though it is not yet available in all the handsets, but it is surely available as an update for the Android One users. It is very important to know more about the features of this latest version of the Android. So let us have a roll on the various features of this latest version of the Android OS.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow Features
Have you observed that all the versions of the Android are named after sweets. Example Kitkat, Lollipop and now marshmallow. Though I will not go into the olden days of Gingerbread and Jelly Beans. So Google loves to give some sweet delight to the users. The best part is that this OS will be soon rolled out in many new smartphones as well as existing smartphones. When the user selects a particular text, he/she can be able to easily translate it to any language. To do this the user should install the Google Translate App.
There are a lot of system usability features which are improved in the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. There are App Links which can be directed to the App itself rather than going to the mobile website. So this is an important navigation enhancement. There is an easy toggle for the “Do Not Disturb” which can be done from the Quick Settings. Easy to use volume controls. There is also a streamlined settings of the app`s settings which help to showcase the battery usage, the memory usage, app permission controls and also the notifications. Google Now Launcher will help the user to showcase the fast alphabetic scrolling, search and also predictive app suggestions.
Flex Storage is helpful to make the external storage encrypted expanded storage for the apps, with easier flexibility.
There are 74+ languages which are now available while using Android. Some of them include Gujarati, Urdu, etc.
There is the bluetooth low energy which helps to scan the nearby bluetooth accessories with ease and effectively. There is a Bluetooth SAP which can help to make calls from your car phone using your phone`s SIM. This is important aspect for the IOT(Internet of Things). The new portable wi-fi hotspot in the new Android now supports the 5 GHz frequency bands.
Device Setup and Migration
The user can transfer the accounts, data to new device or your favourite apps when you migrate from a old android device to a newer one. Auto backup for the apps are there included in the Android 6 which helps to make the backup and restore more efficiently. While doing the setup of the new device the user can setup a personal or corporate email account.
If you are using a particular app from the work profile and the device is unlocked directly, the user will be notified for the same. The VPN apps will be available in the Settings -> More -> VPN where in the user can configure a VPN network with ease.
This update is surely welcomed by the Google Nexus devices and also the budget Android One devices. In India already Android One devices have started receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to their smartphones.
