Qualcomm has made a new announcement today. They have unveiled about their latest processor. This is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC which is more powerful than its predecessor Snapdragon 660 SoC. Though its less powerful than that of the Snapdragon 845 processor. Let is have a look at the possibilities with this processor in a smartphone.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC mobile processor

The company has announced about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 series at the Mobile World Congress in February 2018. This 710 is one of the first processor launched from this series. The processor is right now available to the mobile and other gadget manufacturers. The consumer ready products with this processor will be launched soon.

This processor is built on a 10nm process and has multi-core AI Engine and neural network processing capabilities. This will help the devices to get good AI processing without using any battery life as such.

This is a powerful processor compared to Snapdragon 660 in terms of its AI capabilities. The processor is able to share contextually aware images and videos. It is also able to personalize the voice speech patterns for more better natural communication.

It uses architectures which include Qualcomm Hexagon DSP, Kyro CPU and Adreno Visual Processing subsystem. Heterogeneous computing is possible with ease for running the AI applications with ease.

This new processor features a new Snapdragon X15 LTE modem which is a category 15 LTE modem which is able to support upto 800Mbps download speeds. This processor has 4×4 MIMO technology which is helpful for 70 percent faster download speeds even in weak signal scenario.

This processor supports Bluetooth 5, latest Wi-fi features, Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus and Qualcomm Broadcast Audio. This processor supports 4K HDR playback for watching videos and apps. This is a feature which is not even available in Snapdragon 800 SoC series.

With the major improvements in the Adreno 616 Visual Processing Subsystem architecture, the processor is able to help for 40 percent reduction in power consumption for 4K HDR video playback and during gaming. It also makes 20 percent reduction in power consumption while streaming video.

With the use of new Kyro 360 architecture which is built on ARM Cortex technology is helpful for having 20 percent boot in performance, 15 percent faster app launches and 25 percent faster web browsing. This processor comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology. So the device can be charged 50 percent in just 15 minutes as said by the company.

Overall a very improved processor is there in the arsenal for the device manufacturers.

RealMe 1 First Look & Launch Event

RealMe a new brand from the company Oppo has launched its first smartphone in India. This is the RealMe 1. This phone got unveiled at a launch event in Delhi today. We attended this event and will share all the details about this device and our opinion on it. Let us have a look at the features and pricing of this device.

RealMe 1 Specifications

This phone has a giant display of 6 inches and is a Full HD+ display. The aspect ratio is 18:9. This phone is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 Octa Core Processor.

The mobile is available in 3 variants. One as 3GB RAM and 32GB memory. Second one has 4G RAM and 64GB memory while the third variant has 6GB RAM and 128GB of memory.

This device has 13MP rear camera with LED flash and there is also depth of field effect. The phone has 8MP front camera. There is use of AI for enhancing the selfies. The device has Android 8.1 which runs out of the box. The device will be available in Silver, Red and Black color variants.

Dimensions of the smartphone are 156 x 75.3 x 7.8mm. The weight of the device is 158g which is pretty cool. Phone’s battery capacity is 3410 which is AI assisted. So it is an intelligent battery and kills the other apps in background which are not in use automatically.

Launch Event

This launch event of the device took place in Amazon Blink Fashion Studio in Delhi at 12pm. Event started with Madhav Sheth, CEO of RealMe introducing the new brand and its operations in the country. He also talked about the various aspects of the RealMe brand and how it will make its mark in the coming days.

He then introduced some amazing feautres of the device as mentioned above. His focus was on the aesthetics of the phone and its performance capabilities at an affordable price. Levi Lee, Chief Product Officer at RealMe also talked about various features of the smartphone.

Finally the price was revealed and surely the price is affordable than the Mi smartphones in the market.

First Look

We got opportunity to use the smartphone for few minutes. We had the red color variant in our hand. The design did look a bit unique and the phone is appealing for sure. The phone’s UI is good. We also played games small and there was no lag as such. We had the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant for use.

The phone does look premium and I felt that its features are to the point needed by a user at that price range. Though one thing I noticed that the output sound volume of the phone is not that loud. Sound quality is also average though. The phone’s rear side does look nice and grip is good too.

Our Thoughts

Over all good looking phone, with much needed features at affordable price. Though we do feel that this is better than MI devices at the present. Will give final judgements after full review of the phone.
