We recently witnessed the Honor 8 launch event at New Delhi. This is a flagship phone from the company Honor. They have taken the initiative of “Make in India” seriously and had made the phone Honor Holly 3. This brand is just 2 years old and has made significant progress in providing quality handsets at good price.
Though Honor 8 is a flagship phone from Honor and the price of the device is Rs.29,499. So let us have a look at the features of this handset.
Honor 8 Overview – Launch and First Impressions
Design
This is a complete makeover in terms of design than the previous handsets from this brand. There is a metal frame between the curved glass. the Honor 8 does look premium. In terms of grip comfortability the device may get slipped as it got slipped a couple of times during the testing. So if you are having sweaty hands then you need to take care while holding the device.
The weight of the handset is 153g and it is light weight in terms of configuration it has inside. We can see the notification LED near the earpiece, there is also an infrared emitter at the Top. There is a front camera above the screen near the earpiece. There is a USB Type C at the bottom of the screen. There are SIM and a microSD card tray as well. There are dual cameras at the back with dual tone LED flash. There is also a fingerprint sensor which is quite useful to unlock the phone quickly.
Though the function of the fingerprint sensor can be customized according to the requirements of the user. Ther is also a smart key. At the back, there is a laser autofocus near the camera. The phone overall looks premium and needs to be handle with care.
Display
This phone has a 5.2 inch display and there is Full HD screen resolution. Text in the display is good and easy to read. Even viewing angles were good.
Memory
This device is equipped by a Kirin 950 octa core SoC. This device has 4GB of RAM, 32GB of inbuilt memory. With this configuration hassle, free multi-tasking is surely expected by the handset. The phone is capable of playing 4K videos with ease.
Software
This phone uses a custom UI, based on the Android Marshmallow named as the Emotion UI or EMUI. There are many functions in the software of this handset.
Camera
There are dual cameras in the rear side and these are 12 MP cameras. The front camera is of 8MP. There are sensors which will provide you excellent macro shots and provide good background blur. This is a great feature of the handset. There are Pro modes for Photo and Videos. There are many features in the camera like Panorama, HDR, Time Lapse, Light Painting, slow motion and beauty mode. The camera can record videos of upto 1080p.
Connectivity
It has Bluetooth 4.2, USB OTG support, NFC, WiFi, 2G, 3G and 4G LTE. Surprisingly there is no FM Radio.
Accessories
So in the box apart from the handset we can see a data cable, 18W charger, instruction manuals and SIM ejector tool.
Battery
The battery capacity of the device is 3000mAh. This battery is supported for fast charging.
Observation
This phone is power packed with good configuration. Though some aspects like the grip of the phone, FM radio are missing and even VoLTE is missing which may be some concerns for the buyers. The phone has an excellent camera for clicking macro shots and no less than a DSLR. Go to phone for a camera & Gaming enthusiast. As its a flagship phone so its a bit highly priced than its competitors at Rs.29,499.
